A Silver Celebration in the Swiss Alps

A Month to Magic

You know how life gets. The days turn into weeks, the weeks into months, and before you know it, you’re staring down a milestone. For Sarah and me, it was our 25th wedding anniversary. A big one. The kind that demands more than just a nice dinner.

Our usual crew ? three other couples from our Bay Area days, plus our combined three kids (now young adults, mostly) ? felt the same. We wanted different. Stunning. Memorable. With a month to go, someone threw out “Swiss Alps,” and a quick Google search led us to Chalet Swiss Dream. Honestly, the pictures looked too good to be true.

First Impressions: Like a Hug from the Mountains (and a Familiar Spark)

Touchdown in Interlaken was smooth, and the private transfer was a godsend. No scrambling for taxis, just instant relaxation. That first glimpse of the chalet?pictures don’t do it justice. It’s like the mountains themselves are giving you a hug. The view of Lake Brienz? I’m not a poet, but it made my heart do a little happy dance. And then, there was the way Sarah’s eyes sparkled when she saw the chalet ? a hint of the girl I married 25 years ago, a spark that the everyday rush sometimes obscures.

Inside, it was all cozy wood and that chic, understated Swiss design. Plenty of space for our group of 13 to spread out, find our own little corners, and not feel like we were on top of each other. That’s key with a group our size. We’ve done those cramped rentals before, and vowed never again. This was different.
